I have had a few people ask me if the surgery that I had was worth it because it was elective and not totally necessary to keep me alive and my answer it yes! All the pain, all the blood, all the grossness, all the time lost, getting sick everything was worth it.
I had my doubts myself if what I was doing was going to help me but after they pulled out the packing and the swelling went down and I got my first real big breath of air through my nose it was great! I started sleeping better, my breath got better(yea), It was easier to take my nasal spray and most all of it stayed in. Its been great I get so much more air in when I breathe and I don't find myself mouth breathing as bad. I don't snore or sleep with my mouth wide open causing cotton mouth.
I will say that my scaring is a bit more then I had expected because he said he had to cut in more then he had expected. I had the surgery to stop my nose bleeds a deviated septum causes crowding of vessels and bleeding. When he got in he said he had to take out more bone and cartilage because at some point in my life I broke my nose and didn't know it and it healed wrong causing the deviation. So it fixed the vessels and stopped the bleeding, it opened a larger airway, and it helps to de-congest my nose.
So all in all I would say at this point even with the setbacks and such that yes deviation repair or septoplasty was totally worth it and the bonus in it all better breathing and some shrinking of my bump on the side of my nose.
