School year 2011-2012

I will officially have 2 kids in school starting in the fall. Aubree got in at the somewhat local co-op preschool 3 days a week and Breven moves on to full day school 1st grade. Wow this is huge for the first time in 6 years I will have kid free time on a regular basis! Its super exciting.

The great thing about the co-op preschool is that I get to participate on a regular basis in Aubree's early education and in turn it lowers the price that we pay allowing us to put her into school for 2 years instead of just 1. I have to work in the class room 2 days a month and that combined with my committee job will be how we pay the difference. Parents pick up a lot of the tasks allowing the school to hire less helpers and pass the savings along to the families that participate.

I will still work in Breven's school as well depending on who his teacher is (I have heard rumors that some teachers don't allow parent volunteers in their rooms which upsets me) I have a long wait to see who Breven has next year as a teacher we don't find out until the Friday before school starts. I know who I would like for him to have but having to cut down teachers at that grade level my see changes in staffing. There are I think 3 or 4 first grade classes with about 20 kids each and there are only 60 or so kids going to first grade next year from the current class.

This is all super exciting for me I will have time to get things done without the kids and get them done faster! I am hoping this will help me keep the house cleaner and get my workout schedule back on track a bit more. I also plan to use the extra time to keep up on my deals and couponing and taking care of things better for us as a family.

Aubree will get to make new friends, learn and get some away time without it being too much for her at 3. She is excited she says she can't wait to paint, draw and play at her school and she is happy mommy comes to class sometimes.

Its also sad for me my babies will be 6 and 3 in a matter of a month and well I'll be older too but I am not going there! They are growing up so fast and sometimes I want to hold on to them and say stop and keep them at the ages they are just a little bit longer.

When my kids went to school it was the best thing that could have happened to me. They were finally out of my hair and I was able to get things done.
