Breven at 6

I didn't do my info posts about the kids for their birthdays!

Breven at 6 years old is 48in. tall and 60lbs which puts him at the 75th percentile for weight and height which has moved him out of the danger zone for being over weight(big relief) He is a very tall young man compared to his class mates and weighs a lot more then most. He has one loose tooth and 2 that have fallen out and grown back in already. His 6 year molars are almost all the way in as well. He is become quite good at swallowing his medication and even knows why he takes it.

Breven is now in what I call the little big man stage. He thinks he is super big and can do anything but still wants mommy like a little kid. He can read very well and is in stage 2 books about mid level first grade type reading. His writing is pretty good he loves to sound out and has creative spelling some times. He is needing to work on penmanship(poor boy has horrible writing like his momma) He can count to 100 and add, subtract and knows all his shapes.

Physically he can ride a bike, and a scooter, and he can sit and ride a skateboard. At recess he has taken a liking to basketball(which I am considering putting him in later in the year) and of course he is an excellent swimming competing in 3 events the butterfly, backstroke and freestyle.

He loves to play legos, cars, draw, video games, and surprisingly doll house. He has grown so much in terms of imaginary play he plays like he should have at about age 3 with his imagination in full swing something we thought he may have missed out on.

His behavior is still a bit of a challenge he forgets who's the adult and smarts off often and we still whine. Nothing that I can't handle or dad can scare him straight with a little deep voice and taking away his things. He is never a problem at school however which is most important to me. I hate to see kids who treat school teachers and officials like crap! We still work on it and challenge it pretty frequently.

He does house chores for an allowance he empties trash cans, cleans his room, puts away his clothes, empties his parts of the dishwasher, and feeds the dog. He is very good at these things and enjoys the money he earns he has made some big purchases by saving his money for things he wants. He is even more careful about asking us to get him things because he knows we may ask him to spend his allowance.

He is now on summer vacation and will be spending some time away from home at the boys and girls club at his school to keep him active.

I never imagined what it would be like to have a 6 year old it seemed so far away. I have to say this I couldn't have asked for a more fun or interesting 6 year old and I love to see him growing up just not so fast!
