Poor Breven

So poor Breven has had a rough couple of months of things with the start of school and now we have found out that at 6 and 65 pounds he is considered obese! Yup I said it weight and height and age he should be roughly 58 pounds. So he is 8 pounds over weight. So whats a parent to do? Well in being proactive parents we got him an appointment with the nutritionist. I believe we may be over feeding him a bit because he loves to eat! We have also started to try and shrink some of his portion sizes and working on a plan to get him more exercise. He has to sit in school all day and PE is not that great. Our solution is 2 days a week of running and 2 days a week we are biking.

Our goal is not for him to loose a lot of weight but to get him to when he grows inch wise for him to not gain so it evens out. Has anyone out there had this type of experience to try and help their kid to slim down a bit? What did you do? What worked?

He was out in havasu this weekend and told me he needed to hold his chest because its was jiggley. I know he knows he has some chub and that he shouldn't and now that Brad has hardly any belly he is noticing his standing out. We are doing this all on the down low. He knows we are eating healthy and that he was eating too much junk and we told him that with him not swimming that we need to find better activities for him. So he has some of an idea but we have never said hey Breven you are overweight and we are putting you on a diet.

We never had this issue until that darn first medication they tried for him and it made him gain 8lbs in 3 months! I have been fighting that mistake for so long and we had it under control until summer vacation! Summer vacation was snack party at my parents and it didn't help that it was 100 degrees and most days he was inside with the TV on. So here we are now trying to correct what went wrong.
